The young people will be asked questions about health, housing, education, employment, sexuality and discrimination. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people will be asked for their views in the form of two specifically-designed surveys of their life experiences, as well as in a number of focus groups. The results will be shared widely with decision-makers and organisations which provide services to young people in England including local authorities, health services and the voluntary and charitable sector.

Our Mission The mission of the Lesbian Health Fund is to improve the health of lesbians and sexual minority women SMW and their families through research. Critical Need Misinformation, homophobia among health care providers, and a lack of scientific data on basic lesbian health needs result in dangerously inadequate health care for many lesbians. The serious impact these factors have on lesbian health is evidenced by alarming rates of suicidal behavior among lesbian, bisexual, and questioning youth; high incidence of stress-related chronic illnesses in lesbian adults; and avoidance of preventive health services by lesbians of all ages.

But in spite of this, Malta has a low tolerance for such people and still has a long way to go before it can claim to provide equal rights and a safe environment for its LGBT citizens. The LGBT community faces a lot of problems, these include high incidence of bullying in schools being reported, experiences of discrimination in the workplace, discrimination in accessing goods and services, incidents of violence and harassment, discrimination in the detention conditions of transgender prisoners and under-reporting of hate crimes to the police among others. The project aims to address some of these issues through the recruitment of a policy and programmes officer on a part time basis.
