Foreskin restoration is the process of expanding the skin on the penis to reconstruct an organ similar to the foreskinwhich has been removed by circumcision or injury. Foreskin restoration is primarily accomplished by stretching the residual skin of the penis, but surgical methods also exist. Restoration creates a facsimile of the foreskin, but specialized tissues removed during circumcision cannot be reclaimed.
Circumcision is the cutting off of the fold of skin that normally covers and protects the glans head of the penis. This double layer of skin, the prepuce, is commonly known as the foreskin. The foreskin comprises as much as half, or more, of the penile skin system and has three known functions: protective, sensory, and sexual.

An international group of clinicians working in the field of dysmorphology has initiated the standardization of terms used to describe human morphology. The goals are to standardize these terms and reach consensus regarding their definitions. In this way, we will increase the utility of descriptions of the human phenotype and facilitate reliable comparisons of findings among patients. Discussions with other workers in dysmorphology and related fields, such as developmental biology and molecular genetics, will becomemore precise.
In this paper Dr John Warren shows how the harm of circumcision arises from the operation itself, when all goes well and as planned, not merely when there are complications. Male circumcision results in permanent changes in the appearance and functions of the penis. These include artificial exposure of the glans, resulting in its keratinization and altered appearance.

This page presents information about the foreskin, the tissue removed by circumcision. With an understanding of the structure, functions, and purpose of the foreskin we can understand the impact of male circumcision on human sexuality. The foreskin, or prepuce, is a retractable, double-sided fold of skin and mucosal tissue that covers the glans, or head, of the penis.
