Despite the government introducing compulsory financial education it seems that teenagers are still entering adulthood with very little knowledge about money matters. Nearly 5, people between the ages of four and 17 were surveyed by the Money Advice Service MASand further questions were directed at their parents. A recent survey found that nearly half of teachers noticed no change in the emphasis put on money teaching since it was introduced as a compulsory school topic two years ago.

The rise in older children in the system has caused councils to spend increasingly high amounts on a small number of individuals with acute needs, the index found. The findings also showed older children and teenagers who enter care experience much higher levels of instability, including moving two or more times within a year.
According to new research, their more outgoing peers will lead a happier life as they get older. The research using data from over five decades examined the effects of neuroticism and extraversion at ages 16 and 26 years on mental well-being and life satisfaction of some of the same people in their 60s. They found that personality dispositions by the time of early adulthood had an enduring influence on well-being, including physical health, decades later. Dr Gale said: "Few studies have examined the long-term influence of personality traits in youth on happiness and life satisfaction later in life.
